Who the painting course is for

  • For complete beginners

Never drawn before? We start from the basics and everyone progresses at their own pace. Because the group is small, Alina has time for each student.

  • For those returning to art

Used to draw at school and miss it? Confidence in your hand comes back faster than you think — all it takes is regular practice.

  • For those who want to improve

Painting on your own and missing feedback? Alina guides each student individually, so beginners and experienced painters learn side by side comfortably.

What you will learn on the course

You learn to draw and paint by drawing and painting every week — with a clear plan and a teacher who knows your work.

  1. An academic drapery study in graphite on an easel under a clamp lamp, with still-life drawings on the wall.

    Drawing

Confident lines, form and proportion. You will learn how to observe and transfer what you see onto paper.

  2. A hand with a fine brush paints the eye of a large black-and-white portrait on canvas.

    Light and shadow

How an object gains volume and a picture gains depth — from pencil shading to tonal values in colour.

  3. Hands hold a sketchbook with a freshly painted watercolour giraffe and a sheet of colour swatches on a sunny bench.

    Colour

Colour mixing, warm and cool tones, and your first paintings on canvas.

  4. Finished acrylic canvases on the floor, led by a painting of two boats reflected in blue water.

    Composition and your own painting

How to structure a picture and what to leave out. You will take home finished paintings and lasting confidence.

Techniques covered: graphite pencil, coloured pencils, charcoal, ink, markers, soft and oil pastels, watercolour, acrylics, oils, texture paste and sketching.
