Who this course is for
Starting from scratch
You do not need any prior drawing experience. We begin with confident linework and simple forms, and everyone progresses at their own pace.
Building solid foundations
You already sketch on your own, but want a firmer grasp of proportions, perspective and shading. Academic drawing builds these skills step by step.
Preparing for art school entrance exams
Students aged 16 and over prepare for VŠVU and FAD STU in our dedicated 16+ group — with exam dates and requirements covered on a separate page.

What you will learn
We draw from life rather than from photographs — the way artists have always trained: progressing from simple forms to complex subjects.
Line and form
A steady hand, clean linework and geometric solids — the foundation everything else grows from.
Proportions and perspective
How to sight-measure an object with your eye and pencil and place it convincingly in space.
Light and shadow
Shading that gives a drawing true volume: highlight, halftone, core shadow and cast shadow.
Still life and plaster casts
The classic studies of every art academy — drawing still lifes and plaster heads from life.

Frequently asked questions
I have never drawn before. Will I manage academic drawing?
Yes. We start with basic linework and simple forms, and everyone works at their own pace. Because the group is small, Alina has plenty of time for each student.
How does this differ from the Drawing & painting for adults course?
Academic Drawing focuses purely on drawing: proportions, perspective, light and shadow. In the Drawing & painting course, we also work with colour and paint. The price is the same.
When does the course run?
Once a week for 2 hours: Monday and Tuesday 17:00–19:00, Wednesday and Thursday 19:00–21:00, or Saturday 12:30–14:30. Message us and we will arrange a date for your trial lesson.
What if I miss a lesson?
Let us know at least 24 hours in advance and you can make up the lesson on another date. For later cancellations, the booked place is charged in full.
Will this course prepare me for art school entrance exams?
Academic drawing is the foundation of every art entrance exam. If you are applying to VŠVU or FAD STU, see our dedicated 16+ exam prep programme; younger students applying to ŠUP secondary art school prepare in our 12–15 group on artizokids.sk.
In what language is the course taught?
In Slovak, English, Ukrainian and Russian — just let us know what suits you best.
What should I bring?
Just a good mood and a smile — all materials are included and aprons are waiting at the studio.
Want to add colour to your drawing?
Our Drawing & painting for adults course has the same price and the same small group size.
